Port of VA and APM Terminals Reach Agreement
The terminal would be operated by a state agency, the Virginia Port Authority. Taking over APM's new, highly automated facility will vastly improve the efficiency of the port authority's operations, while delaying the state's need to spend billions to develop its own state-of-the-art terminal at Craney Island, said Virginia Transportation Secretary Sean T. Cobham Composite Products Celebrates Opening in Suffolk
A new manufacturing facility in northern Suffolk is expected to employ more than 200 people by 2014 with salaries averaging $41,000. For now, Cobham Composite Products' 73,500-square-foot facility is running on a skeleton crew of 18 as it ramps up for production. It will make composite engine components for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, a composite fuselage for the U.S. Air Force's unmanned decoy, and rotor blade parts for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps CH-53K helicopter.
